Bebel's book Die Frau in der Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft was published in English in 1885 as Woman in the Past, Present and Future. Ferdinand August Bebel was a German socialist politician, writer, and orator. He is best remembered as one of the founders of the Social Democratic Workers' Party of Germany (SDAP).
