Lease of [16, or possibly 14] Lambs Conduit Passage, (3 July 1778).

  • (1) John Freeman of Chute Lodge, Wilts, esq
  • (2) George Slaton of Theobalds Rd, Middx, carpenter

In consideration of rent, and repairs to be done, (1)-(2) messuage in lambs Conduit Passage in possession of ---- Byfield shoemaker.

Term: 31 years

Rent: £19 pa

Free passage of water and soil through channels and drains on the premises reserved for other houses and tenants of (1).

(2) covenants not to allow any public sale or auction or 'noisome' trades (specified) on premises; to insure and rebuild in case of damage etc.

(2) covenants to repair tiling, repair and paint chimney shafts, repair decayed brickwork at back, repair doors, floors and lead lights in garret and 'two pair of stairs rooms', wainscoting, sashes, shutters and glass doors in 'one pair of stairs rooms and parlour', repair lead lights and paving and doors 'in cellar story', repair and whitewash plastering, repair wainscoting, linings and skirtings, and paint all inside and outside wood and ironwork twice in oil, ' to approbation and good liking' of Robert Tayler of Spring Gardens, Middx, esq.
